SAN FRANCISCO (KGO/CNN) – A woman said she’s been banned from the dating app Tinder. She said it’s because of her hunting photos, but.
The feature will roll out in the coming days. Tinder, which is available in countries and in more than 40 languages, worked with the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association to determine which countries still deem same-sex relationships or acts illegal. The alerts will include a link to the ILGA site for information on local sexual-orientation laws. People will then be given the option to remain hidden or opt to make their profile public. People can now select up to three out of nine terms that best describe their sexual orientation, which can then be displayed on profiles.
Those terms include: straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, demisexual, pansexual, queer and questioning. Previously, people were limited to selecting a preference of men, women or both. Tinder is testing video chat — a feature for the quarantine times
Co-founders of Tinder and eight other former and current executives of the popular dating app are suing the service’s current owners, alleging that they manipulated the valuation of the company to deny them of billions of dollars they were owed. The plaintiffs are represented by Orin Snyder of Gibson Dunn, who has represented some of the biggest companies in tech, including Facebook, Apple and Uber.
The dispute centers on an analysis of Tinder done in by Wall Street banks to set a value for stock options received by Sean Rad, a Tinder co-founder, and other early employees. We will update this story when or if we get one. The suit charges that executives with Match and IAC deliberately manipulated the data given to the banks, overestimating expenses and underestimating potential revenue growth, in order to keep the valuation artificially low.
That manipulation allegedly deprived some early Tinder employees of millions, or billions, of dollars.

CNN — The global coronavirus pandemic has made it harder for people to go on dates in the real world, which has given rise to a new normal: video dating. Tinder is the latest dating service to add video capabilities to its app, making it easier to get to know matches without having to exchange more personal information such as phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or Zoom details. On Wednesday, Tinder, which has been downloaded more than million times, said it would begin testing its new “Face to Face” video feature within the app in Virginia, Illinois, Georgia and Colorado, as well as in a dozen other countries, including Australia, France, South Korea and Chile.
People can indicate they are interested in a video date on a match-by-match basis. If both parties say they are ready to video chat, the function will be unlocked within the chat. Unlike a regular video chat where the majority of the screen space is taken up by the person on the other line, Tinder’s Face to Face feature splits the screen equally between the two parties.
Tinder’s head of trust and safety product, Rory Kozoll, told CNN Business that, while the company had been “talking about doing a video feature on Tinder for years,” it had prioritized in-person safety measures. Several factors, spurred by the pandemic, led to the acceleration of adding video capabilities to the app, Kozoll said. Those included the newly apparent health risks of in-person meetups and the rapid rise of video as an acceptable, and oftentimes preferred, means of communicating with everyone from colleagues to friends and family.
Other dating apps have already incorporated the capability. Bumble launched a voice and video chat feature in June , which allows women to call as soon as they match with someone; Hinge rolled out video capabilities globally in June Before a video call, Tinder’s Face to Face feature prompts people to agree on some “ground rules,” pulled from its community guidelines: “Keep it PG: No nudity or sexual content.
Keep it clean: No harassment, hate speech, violence or other illegal activity. Keep it age-appropriate: No content involving minors.

The app markets itself as a dating platform for people looking for long-term relationships. For example, standing someone up, or getting too drunk on a first date, are things members might relay to Hinge. We really want people who are looking for one thing: great dates that lead to relationships. But there has been some momentum to filter out certain types of behavior to keep users satisfied. Female-first dating app Bumble has held users accountable, for example, by publicly banning a misogynistic member and posting screenshots to show what got him kicked off.
Hinge has been particularly vocal about being a place for people to find serious relationships.

Tinder’s parent company Match Group is suing competitor Bumble, accusing the female-friendly dating app of patent infringement and stealing trade secrets. The lawsuit, filed Friday in Texas, says Bumble is virtually identical to Tinder, the app that popularized the swipe right to like, swipe left to dislike functionality. Bumble copied the “world-changing, card swipe-based, mutual opt-in premise” of Tinder, the lawsuit says.
The complaint also says that Bumble’s co-creators are ex-Tinder employees, and the app has rolled out two new features that were “learned of and developed confidentially while at Tinder. Bumble has become a fierce competitor to Tinder since it launched in
